Monie Cashette is opening up about her struggles with height discrimination, not only from the outside world but also from within her own community. On Episode 5 of The Little Reunion, tensions rise when co-star Christy McGinity questions Monie’s dwarfism; a hurtful accusation that hits close to home.

Her friend and co-star Bri Barlup points out that Monie gets it from both sides: “Little people often question her dwarfism because of her height, and she’s still too short compared to average-sized people.”

This isn’t the first time Monie’s faced questions about her height. During her time on Little Women: Atlanta (Christy starred on Little Women: LA), Monie went to the doctor and received official confirmation that she is a little person, standing at 4 feet 5 inches tall. Christy, who is 4 feet even, admits she’s never met Monie in person but still doubted her because of rumors she heard.

“Being in a world with average-sized people, they judge you every day,” Monie says. “But being around a group of people that should be able to relate to you and being judged… that hurts.”

She pauses before asking, “Is this heightism? Discrimination because of my height?”

Monie’s emotions take over as she continues, “Sometimes I do feel like, ‘Where do I fit in?’ Back home in Houston, there aren’t a lot of little people. So when I’m with these ladies, it feels like family—like I can be myself and relate. But when someone points you out for something you can’t control, it’s like… gosh.”

Bri stays by Monie’s side, calling the situation with Christy’s comments “f*cked up” and adding, “There’s all kinds of different dwarfism. It’s basically like bullying now.”

Through vulnerability and honesty, Monie’s story shines a light on the emotional impact of heightism, even within communities meant to uplift and support one another.

Watch Monie, Bri, Christy and more face it all head-on in The Little Reunion, now streaming on Brandon TV.
